SENDAYU TINGGI SCAR TONER REVIEW

Recently, I found a new hobby i.e. testing few skincare products as well as make-ups. 

Every time I'm interested to buy something, I will search in google and read reviews on the particular item. Sadly, not many product was reviewed especially the local ones. 

In this entry, I am going to write an honest review on a local brand that has been around for almost 20 years. I believe Malaysians should be familiar with Sendayu Tinggi. My mother used to use this product in her younger days. Not too sure why she stopped, though. From my observation, this brand has improved a lot in term of their packaging, marketing and of course, the formula. 

To be frank, I was not sure myself to try this brand because of the other so-called local brands *read as: repacked-skincare that's like the heat of the moment. Unfortunately, most of them, although not all, are harmful for the skin due to illegal hazardous chemicals contained.

However, after reading few reviews, I am getting more and more convinced to try this one. And, yeah I finally did. 

The first product I tried was from the 'Acne Line' because I have a very sensitive, acne-prone skin, like the other 70% of human population. Lucky the rest 30%! Haha. Not that I'm not being thankful, whatsoever. The SCAR TONER grabbed my attention because it claims to be designed  to reduce breakouts and post-acne marks on the face. 

I got my first bottle of Scar Toner from Sendayu Tinggi Branch in Bangi. The place was the nearest and offers a wide ranges of Sendayu Tinggi products. They also have testers there, if you like to try-out before purchasing. Wise consumer is a happy consumer! And yeah, I also bought the Acne Bar Soap. You know women, they can't get hold of themselves when it comes to spending. 

The price retailed at RM 35 (non-member price) for Scar Toner and RM 19.10 (non-member price) for the Acne Bar Soap. It is absolutely affordable, especially for students, read as: like me. The scar toner comes in a fairly small bottle of 60 ml and the acne bar soap weighs 80 g. They have a membership price which one needs to pay RM 26.50 for a lifetime membership to enjoy lower price for each item. Again, it is a win-win situation! Why spend more when you can pay less?

In this post, I will only review on the scar toner. InshaaAllah, in my next post, I will update on the acne bar soap.

SCAR TONER

This is the packaging. Neat, simple and small. One bottle may last up to a month. Depends on an individual usage. For oily skin like mine, can apply twice to thrice daily. Currently, I am on my second bottle now, which means I'm satisfied with the outcome.

This toner is amazing for me. It doesn't give you that immediate flawless, porcelain egg-skin look or eye-bewitching magic in one night. With a constant usage, I noticed that my complexion improves a lot in term of the appearance of white- and blackheads, as well as acne. I personally enjoy using this toner after face cleansing with the acne bar soap, using a cotton pad I bought from local drugstore, Watsons. 

Not only this puff's amazing, it is budget-friendly also. It retails at RM 5.90 for 100 pieces. I am exceptionally impressed with the texture and surface. It has these lines that increases the surface area. I don't know exactly, but I feel that the cotton puff helps in rubbing off those dead skins effectively. You don't have to worry, it is soft and gentle enough for facial skin. However, it still relies on individual's suitability. For me, it doesn't irritate my skin and I might stick on using this one until I found something better in the market.  As a plus, I find this puff is not as absorbent as the ones I tried before and I like it as I can save more of the product.

Omaigod, I got off track. Haha. Sorry. Continue on my review for scar toner, it is gentle enough for my super sensitive skin but efficient in removing those stubborn dead skin. To my surprise, every single time I apply this toner with the round facial puff, I can see dirt stick on the surface, like whoa, I'm amused! No, it does not leave my face red or stings or whatsoever. Absolutely, love! It's like a satisfaction and a pay-off for your effort post-cleansing, haha! 

Ingredients listed on the bottle includes: Aqua, Zea Mays Extract, Propylene glycol, Fomes Officinalis Extract, Glycol, Salicylic Acid, Ethoxydiglycol, Dextrin, Amylopectin, Diazolidinyl Urea, Disodium EDTA, Xantham Gum, Lactic Acid, Methylisothiazolinone, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate.

I ran a CosDNA analysis and it showed most if the ingredients are totally safe with index of 1 (green). However, four ingredients came out as moderately scored (4-6, yellow) which are the Propylene glycol (solvent), Salicylic Acid,  Diazolidinyl Urea and Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate (preservative). Salicylic acid works as the exfoliator while the lactic acid is the astringent and both function as mild whitening agents. Note in mind that butylene glycol has score of 1 for comedogenic, however this figure is the lowest index. It is the benefit of the doubt to be particular in the ingredients and to try in a small area or patch on your face before full application, bearing in mind that every person has different tolerance towards the same product. 

This toner also helps in fading my post-acne hyper-pigmentation marks around my cheek and jaw areas. Although the scars are still visible, but without a doubt, they are definitely becoming less obvious. In terms of consistency, the toner is runny and colorless fluid. It absorbs quickly into the skin and does not leave any stickiness afterwards. There is a tinge of chemical smell, however it is acceptable for me (not unpleasant smell). As an addition, my white- and blackheads  also have been reducing these days. Yeay! Otherwise, it does not seem to reduce my big-pore size. But it's not like the product claims it will.

Pros : Affordable, non-irritant, good value for money, effective

Cons : Small bottle (may run out quickly with frequent usage)

Overall rating : 4.5 / 5 

Impression: This skincare may take longer times to show its effect, but it is better to be safe.
